Traditional Customs are Dying Away

Old  People are vital tools to study History. Photograph by Grace Wakane

In most societies in Papua New Guinea, traditional customs is dying out due to the modernsation. People do not realise the importance of their traditional cultures. Some of the things that people do in the past are not known by the current population. It became the big issue for the future generations.

However, most of the old People have passed away but only few survive. These are the important tooks to get the necessary information how they lived in the past. I have interviewed these two old women in the picture about how they spent their young life. It was quite a interesting but sad to hear such a wonderful lifestyle they spent during their young ages.

During their time, every norms and rules were followed perfectly with obedient. But today rules have changed where everthing is mixed up. People don't care and respect others in the society. These brings  chaos and destruction in the lives of the both old and young people. The things that we should need to do is to be advocate for the majority who can not speak in general public for how to preserve traditional ways of lifestyle.

We must not be selfish, it is our job to get solid references those old people before they perished so that future generation can have a change to study how their great grand parents existed in the Past.

FINALLY MY WARM THANKS GOES TO MY TWO BUBUES FROM SANGURAP, LAWAN SINEA AND MAENDE FOR PROVIDING ME A SOLID EVIDENCE TO RECORD THE ORAL HISTORY...

Enga Need Change

Deae Politicans  of Enga, So called politic is over but your unpoven promises are still in the hearts of the people. In every game only one person or team is to win and loosers at least tried but unsuccessful. Sometimes stories ended unexpectedly  but at the end of the day everything come to a normal condition where its hard to believe. Its over but think beyond the line to satisfy the needs and wants of the people. You are trusted and elected to serve the people with equal respect to every citizen. A Good leader does not complain but fight for the rights of the people to deliver services.

One thing I want to bring foward is that people must  work together with the elected leaders to promote the mutual respect in order to achive some of the goals and objects. This is because goals are sometimes hard to achieve when there is no cooperation and understanding about the value of services. Most people are thinking that ending the live for each day successful is more important than what they should deserve for the long run. There are things need to be analysis to the people about achiving the long term and short term benefits of the services.

Therefore, people of Enga let our elected members bring services that will last long rather than investing on our daily cost to enjoy for the day and gone hungary in the next day. In one of the popular proverb, "give a man a fish and he can go suffer but give a man a net he won't die but live forever" To achieve this people of Enga need to change their behaviors and forget about the tribal wars everywhere. Only then we will enjoy the good life one earth without fear in our own land. Why I'm saying this because our lives are treatening in our own community. We need freedom on our own land. Please Change yourselves to save the future changes of Enga Province.

Lets socialize with games and make fun for our great Province
